Woodpeckers Maths – Measuring (mm, cm, m and km)

Posted on by Miss Ingram

In Woodpeckers today, we have started our new maths unit, length, perimeter and area. To kick off our learning, we have completed a practical measuring session using rulers, measuring tapes, metre sticks and trundle wheels. To begin with, we got together in pairs and measured a range of objects in the classroom using our rulers. We then got together to compare our measurements, to see how some of them differed (pencils, pumps, cushions and reading corner books) and how some of them were the same (glue sticks, scissors and jotters). Then, we split off and some of us used measuring tapes to measure out height and wingspan, whilst some of us used meter sticks and trundle wheels to measure different equipment outside.
