Falcons Science – digestion

Posted on by Mr Beech

In our class, we have been looking at the digestive system. We labelled an image of our digestive system and discussed how it works. We discussed new vocabulary such as Oesophagus and the small and large Intestines. There was another new word which the class found very funny – why don’t you ask them about this!?

As a class, we modelled the digestive system using orange juice, chocolate muffins, a plastic bag, some washing up liquid and a pair of tights. The whole class got involved by churning the food with the stomach acid (orange juice) and digestive enzymes (washing up liquid) and they squeezed the nutrients out of the small and large intestines (the tights) which left the waste product that comes out of the end! Ask your children about this to see how much they can remember.
