First day of the last week of what has been a very busy but very exciting and certainly very successful school year!

As we move towards the end of the academic year, I’d like to share our pupil outcomes with you – they’re some of the best we’ve ever had & certainly reflect a lot of hard work from pupils, staff and parents – so many thanks to you all!

Early Years:

In Reception, assessments have been ongoing over the whole year, and at the end of the year, pupils are assessed as having made a ‘Good Level of Development’ (or ‘GLD’) or not. Those pupils who are considered not to have made GLD by the end of Reception will continue to be assessed against this measure in Year 1 and most will have achieved GLD by the end of the Autumn term.

12/13 – 86% of our pupils made GLD

13/14 – 89% of our pupils made GLD – the 3rd highest result of any school in Leeds!

14/15 – 90% of our pupils made GLD & this very pleasing outcome was verified by Leeds LA moderators – well done Reception – you are amazing!

Great to see we are improving every year!

Year 1 Phonics Check:

12/13 – 92% of our pupils passed the phonics screening check.

13/14 – 86% of our pupils passed the phonics screening check.

14/15 – 97% of our pupils passed the phonics screening check – well done Year 1 – you are amazing!

Great to see we have improved our results here to achieve our best ever outcome!

Level 4 is the Nationally Expected level, Level 5 is above average attainment and level 6 is the level which would be achieved by an average 14 year old!

We’re delighted to have sustained our success in ensuring as many children as possible make age related expectations. The SPAG – Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar – test is the only aspect where we have not yet managed a 100% L4 pass rate & this will be an area that we’ll work on next year. Our outcomes at Level 5 and above are really pleasing – especially Level 6 maths! Well done Y6 – you are amazing!

We were moderated this year by the LA in EYFS and Level 6 writing. Last year we were moderated in KS1. Moderation is a process where an external moderator agrees that our teacher’s judgements are sound. A percentage of all schools are moderated each year in EYFS, KS1 and KS2. I am a LA moderator but am obviously not allowed to moderate my own school even though I know that our teachers know the children inside out!

Well done to all our pupils for their hard work and brilliant learning attitudes – having read everyone’s reports last week, I know how hard you are all working and how much effort you are putting in!
