Headteacher’s Blog 13/2/15

Final communication before I leave the building for the half term holidays!

It’s been a busy term with lots going on including saying goodbye to Mrs El-Khodari and hello to a new teacher for Kestrels starting after half term – Mrs O’Sullivan. We’re delighted to have her on board -she’s spent this week in school acclimatising and has gone off with lots of reading material for the half term holidays before starting next half term with her new class.

We’ve had all our topic exit points in school too this week – a fantastic circus day for KS1, flying paper planes and firing rockets for Reception and some wonderfully wacky inventions pitched in the ‘Dragon’s Den’ in Y3/4.  Y5/6 have really enjoyed their space topic and there has been some wonderful model making going  on – a particularly noteworthy one in Kingfishers class made by Patrick which was so big, it needed Mr Brown and a number of assistants to hang it up!

We’ve also had a visit from a prospective MP who was so impressed with the children’s knowledge about democracy and the upcoming General Election, he offered some of our Y6 pupils the opportunity of work experience when they get to High School!

As well as the exit points and interesting visitors, the children also thoroughly enjoyed their discos on Wednesday and raised lots of money towards our playground project in the process – I’ve heard the PTA are nearly at their total for this project having raised over £11,000 which is absolutely amazing. Mr J also held an information evening for parents of Y5 children who will be visiting Ingleborough Hall in the not too distant future.

Well – that’s enough for this week – have a great holiday everyone. Look forward to seeing you all back on the 23rd.
