Headteacher’s Blog 19/12/14

The end of a very long – but very busy and productive – school term. As I type my blog, I’m listening in to the Jean and the Beanstalk pantomime very kindly provided for the children by the PTA and there is a lot of laughing going on in the the hall! The children are really enjoying the experience and it has topped off what has been a fun week in school with some magical moments such as Reception listening out for the sleigh bells as Santa arrived.

Christmas is such a special time for children and I hope that our school events such as the Christmas shows, Nativity plays and carol concerts, along with the parties and panto have added to the overall magic of the season for our families. We’d like to wish all our Tranmere Park families a restful, enjoyable and peaceful Christmas break.

This week in school though, we have also felt shocked and saddened by the tragic news from Peshawar in Pakistan. Our thoughts are with the many families affected. Some of our Tranmere families have close links with Pakistan, and I am sure that there will be a strong desire from our school community to show our support and pay respects to those affected.

Sadly, I have had to deal with an incident this week where children have repeated disrespectful remarks heard at home to other pupils on the playground. Children’s attitudes are guided by home as well as school, and we would hope that all our families will support us in our aim of promoting diversity, tolerance and respect for all, regardless of race or religion.

On a different note, we were really thrilled to have been included in ‘The Times’ best schools list this week. a great testimony to the hard work of the pupils, parents and staff – well done Team Tranmere!

Seasonal greetings to you all – have a wonderful holiday.
