LKS2 Art – Pointillism, Jigsaw and Food Art

Throughout the past few weeks in LKS2, we have undertaken a number of different art projects. Check these out below…

Pointillism – After studying the work of Seurat’s & Delree Dumont, we had a go at recreating our favourite landscape images using pointillism techniques (cotton puds and finger tips).

Jigsaw Art – After studying the work of Pierre Dumont, John Constable, Georgia O’Keefe and Anna Boch, we were all given a small jigsaw piece of one of their art works. We discussed their colours, patterns, shapes, light, shading, feelings/mood, medium, objects, and what we thought our pieces were a small part of. After this, we had a go at matching our jigsaw pieces together in order to create the whole picture. Once all together, we discovered that each piece of art was an image of a landscape. This led to further discussions about how the images compared against one another. Here we talked particularly about colour and shape and abstract vs realistic art. To finish, we had a go at recreating our original jigsaw piece using our chosen medium and technique.

Food Art – To begin our food art project, we started by recapping our learning of Guiseppe Archimboldo from KS1. We then had a go at recreating a portrait in the same style. We were then introduced to the artist Dennis Wojtkiewicz. When looking at his art, we paid close attention to how he used light and shade to bring his pieces to life. Finally, we had a go at recreating our own food art pieces in the same style.
