Creating our own medals has been lots of fun today.  We talked about how we could make a repeating pattern using two different colours.  Then we wrote our own names and even had a go at writing the words ‘I am Brave’.  

Poppies | 15 Nov 2018

We have used different types of media to create our own poppies.  We talked about why poppies were important and looked at the shape and texture of the petals.  We then tried to replicate these using different types of materials.  

This week we have been learning about Remembrance Day.  At the beginning of the week we looked at different artefacts related to the war along with  how soldiers lived in the trenches and received medals for their bravery. We then had a go at drawing the different objects.  

Wrens were all really excited today to take part in a fantastic, active PE session put on by Leeds Beckett’s PE education department.

To round off our topic on line graphs, we all went out onto the playground and discussed the type of data that we might see in a line graph. We decided on ‘The Amount of Goals a Football Team Scored Throughout the Season’ and we even came up with our own football team, Gandalf FC. …

As our exit point for our ‘Express Yourself’ topic, all of Year 5 ventured down to Esholt Woods to become artists for the morning. We were very lucky with the weather and we found a perfect spot when we walked down. Once there, we split into groups and created insects and other art pieces using …
