Science in Skylarks – Senses

This afternoon, we discussed the five senses and performed simple tests to find out more about them and answer questions. For sight, the children used blindfolds to cover their eyes and tried to complete the following tasks; reading a book, building a tower out of Lego and putting on a jumper. For sound, they listened to different musical instruments and sounds and had to discuss what object was making the noise. For smell/taste, the children were given different food items and used a variety of adjectives to describe them. The chocolate was a favourite, and the lemon not so much! For touch, they had to make predictions about which objects would be; heaviest, lightest, coldest, smoothest and roughest. The children then had to feel and hold the different objects to find out if their predictions were correct.
