Teaching schools are outstanding schools that have a proven track record in school improvement. They are part of the government’s plan to give schools a central role in raising standards by developing a self-improving and sustainable school-led system. By March 2016, the National College of Teaching and Leadership’s goal is to have a network of 600 teaching schools making significant improvements in the quality of teaching, leadership and pupil attainment.

Teaching School Alliances are led by a teaching school and include schools that are benefiting from support, as well as strategic partners who lead some aspects of training and development.

Noctua Teaching School Alliance was designated in September 2014 and has four strategic partners:

Our partners include other schools, Leeds City Council and Educate Teacher Training. We work closely with other alliances to share knowledge and resources as a teaching school network of 30 schools.

We currently offer thirty five School Direct places, lead and manage new headteacher support for Leeds, have eight Specialist Leaders of Education (SLEs) and support other schools. Amongst the Alliance Partners we have National Leaders of Education ( NLEs), Local Leaders of Education (LLEs) and School Improvement Advisors who have a wealth of experience . Our school to school support ranges from supporting headteachers, leadership teams, middle leaders, teachers, RQTs and NQTs.
