Easter Art in Bluebirds
Today in Bluebirds, the children enjoyed taking part in an Easter-themed art activity. The children were first shown some example pictures for inspiration and were encouraged to think carefully about how they had been made, working out which materials, shapes technqiues had been used for each part. Using empty kitchen rolls, and oil pastels, they explored shape and printing techniques to create Easter bunnies and carrots.
As they worked, the children shared their ideas and developed their pictures further, using their own thoughts to extend the examples. Many added details such as rain clouds and sunshine to represent spring weather, and trees for the bunnies to hide under. This creative session supported the children in experimenting with different materials, exploring shape, and expressing their ideas through art.
While painting, the children were introduced to creating symmetrical patterns and mirrored effects when an adult accidentally folded a painting in half while the paint was still wet. When it was opened, the children noticed the mirrored pattern that had formed. We plan to explore this further tomorrow through symmetrical Easter egg artwork—watch this space! 🎨🥚
