Exploring Money in Maths

In maths, Year 2 have been learning to recognise and understand the value of different coins. The children each picked a coin, discussed its value together and then practised writing the amount, helping to reinforce their understanding. It was great to see them growing in confidence as they recognised coins and used both the pound (£) and pence (p) symbols correctly.

We then moved on to looking at different amounts and matched the coins to the amount shown, helping to build confidence with recognising coins. We explored how to make the same amount using different coins, and it was lovely to see the children thinking carefully and sharing their ideas as they found different ways to make the same total.

They all worked really hard—well done, everyone!
