Exit Point – Year 1 Visit Abbey House Museum

Posted on by wrightr

This term our topic has been ‘Toys’. As part of this unit, the children have learnt about old and new toys and how toys have changed over the years. As our exit point, we went on a trip to Abbey House Museum in Kirkstall, where the children were given the opportunity first hand to explore and examine old and new toys. The children were even allowed to play and interact with some of these toys, discussing how they worked and what they were made from. We also explored the toy museum and enjoyed looking at even more toys from the past.

As always, the children thoroughly looked forward to lunchtime and the prospect of a packed lunch!

In the afternoon, we wandered through the museum’s streets and explored the Victorian shops and homes – something which the children were fascinated by.

Well done Year 1 on a fantastic school trip!
