Home Learning

We hope all of our Tranmere families are well and have managed to have some relaxed time together over the Easter break.

We are excited to officially launch our Google Classroom home learning platforms from Monday! This is now where teachers will be setting activities and interacting with the children in their classes until we open our doors and are able to all be together in school again. We are very aware that this is a challenging time for everyone and that many of you as parents are trying to juggle your own work whilst also caring for your children and other family members who are potentially relying on you at the moment. For this reason, we have decided to keep the content on Google classroom simple. There will be a mixture of consolidation work for key subjects such as Maths and English but also some shared topic work and Science. We are not setting expectations for how many activities will be completed generally each week. Our hope is that families will support the children in accessing as much of the content as possible, obviously to maintain a level of understanding and confidence within subjects but also to continue to give the children some connection with us at school, with their teacher and their friends. We are very aware that this is a complex and confusing time for our children and we’re hoping that together we can maintain a simple routine that helps them to feel connected to their familiar school community. We know that everyone is doing their best and that families will access and complete what they can.

So, this is how it will work! You should all have the information you need to log into Google classroom. If you don’t have this, or are struggling with this, please just let us know. Your child’s class teacher will post activities to be completed each week in their Google Classroom every Monday morning. This will be the work for that full week. The children can then submit completed work for their teacher to see (the teachers will each set the agreements for this within each class on the page). Teachers will not be individually ‘marking’ each completed piece of work submitted. They will see all of the work and will give general and some individual feedback each week. The teachers and children can message each other within Google Classroom. Each teacher will set an afternoon each week where they will be available to message and to ask questions about the activities set.

All of this information and more detail, including a short tutorial about Google Classroom and the afternoon your class teacher will be available each week, is available on the school website. Just go to the home page and then click on the  ‘Home Learning’ tab on the top left-hand side of the page. If you have any problems at all please just let us know.

Obviously, this system relies on each household having access to a device of some description (PC, tablet, smartphone etc) and internet connection. If any of these things are difficult for you at the moment, again, please just let us know.

Topic work for the next few weeks will be the same throughout school. We are all going to be sharing a beautiful book titled ‘The Lost Words’. Here is a little taster of what is to come….
