Homework
Your child will bring their homework home every Monday and should return it the following Monday. This will usually alternate between maths and English/grammar (SPAG). Homework may be used to support other areas of the curriculum too. We politely request that parents mark the work with their child so that any misconceptions can be addressed when returned to school. If they are struggling with any aspects please just write a note on the homework.
Spellings
Spellings will be tested each week on Monday and the new list will be given out following the weekly test. A spelling book will also be sent home with the spellings in.

Wednesday 5 November 2025 All Dressed Up - KS1 Entry Point Today saw the start of our new topic 'All Dressed Up.' As our entry point, our Year 1 children visited Bradford Industrial Museum to see how cloth is made. They completed a weaving workshop where they learnt the process of making wool; from sheep shearing to carding, combing, spinning and finally weaving. We even saw a range of clothes from the past and were able to discuss how they are different from the clothes we wear today. What a great and interesting way to start our new topic!

Friday 24 October 2025 Science in Eagles - Welly Walk In science, Eagles went on a leaf hunt around the school grounds to explore and identify different types of plants and leaves. Using our classroom learning, we observed the shapes, sizes, and colours of leaves to help us recognise a variety of tree species. Along the way, we also looked closely at different plants, identifying their key parts such as roots, stems, stalk, petals, trunk, branches, bark and leaves. We really enjoyed being able to apply our science knowledge to the real world and learn more about the nature around us.

Thursday 16 October 2025 Scrambled Sentences in Eagles In writing, our lessons are focused around the story of Billy's Bucket. Today, we revisited capital letters and full stops and focused on ensuring that a sentence makes sense. We fixed some examples of muddled sentences altogether before the children had a go in small groups. By the end of the lesson, we all understood that a sentence needs a capital letter, full stop and HAS to make sense! Eagles have now promised that they will not forget capital letters and full stops in their writing.😁

Thursday 16 October 2025 Eagles use Charcoal in Art As part of our topic work, the children have been looking at physical and human geography features that they might find at the coast. Today, we focused on cliffs; where the children drew a cliff using pencil before using charcoal to show light and shade. The children learnt that applying more pressure resulted in a darker colour and that they could blend charcoal to create a realistic image.
