Safer Internet Day 2018

Posted on by Mr Beech

Today is Safer Internet Day and every year we focus on a different aspect of life online. This year’s theme is positive and negative attention. All of the children who were in assembly (some were having their class governor visit!) took part in a session where we looked at good and bad attention that they receive both online and in their daily lives. A part of this was to highlight that not all attention such as ‘likes,’ ‘followers or ‘friends’ online is positive.

The presentation we talked through is below in PDF format so that you can follow this up with your child if you think it appropriate. There is also a guide from ParentZone on how parents can help support children with their online life. It is important to remember that not all online activity happens on the internet but much can occur in games or apps and to include these when talking to your children.

As always, there is lots of information on our online safety page, including a parents guide to SID 2018, and if you have any questions or concerns – please contact your child’s class teacher or Mr Beech for advice.
